What is Feng Shui ?

Feng Shui means "wind and water".

Nowadays when someone mentions feng shui, people generally associate it with space clearing - or moving the furniture around, placing mirror, hanging wind chimes, having a fish tank or a water fountain at home or in their office.. Traditional Chinese Feng Shui is much more than that. The basic principle of Feng Shui is that everything is energetically connected and always changing. The main purpose of Feng Shui is to help create balanced and harmonious energies where you live, work and align yourself with them.  Feng Shui is more a Chinese science. In fact, it is accurately likened to acupuncture for the home, office or business, as it is based on the idea of balancing energy or Qi.

"An" means harmony and peace and "Qi" means the source of natural vital energy or air. Fengshui is meant to help you live in harmony with your space. It does not mean removing the clutter or placing things in their proper or "right" space, it is how you align your outer environment with your inner worlds and desires.

Taoists believe that there is a specific current to the flow of life, and when we live in harmony with this way, we experience success and happiness. But when we do not follow this innate flow, we start to have disturbances in our lives.

Feng Shui assumes that there is a direct relationship between what is happening in the energy of your space and what is going on currently in your life or business.

Traditional Feng Shui is based on understanding energy. In practice, Feng Shui focuses on clearing and balancing the energy of the spaces you inhabit to free the flow of that energy. You as a person has a specific energy. Your home or your workplace have its own energy as well. Feng Shui will specifically analyse these energies and see how they interact and work to set free any blockage. Thus allowing the beneficial energy to flow.
